Amy Appleford is Associate Professor of English and Director of the Global Medieval Studies Program at Boston University. She works on late medieval English literature, especially religious writing, with special interests in Gender and Sexuality Studies, Disability Studies, and the history of civic institutions, including hospitals, colleges, and guilds. She has published essays on a range of writers and topics, including Julian of Norwich, Margery Kempe, John Lydgate’s “Dance of Death,” early drama, and Shakespeare. Her first book, Learning to Die in London, 1380-1540, appeared in 2015 in the Middle Ages Series at University of Pennsylvania Press.
