March 12, 2026 by Centre for Medieval Studies

We are thrilled to announce that two CMS Students, Samuel MacPhee and Rebecca Onken, have been awarded the CMS Publication Prize! The Prize awards an honorarium to CMS students who have published their first peer-reviewed article or book chapter in the last twelve months.

Samuel MacPhee's article, "The Conciliatory Strategy of Jean de Roquetaillade's Apocalyptic Alchemy, 1349–1350", which examines Roquetaillade's Commentary on Cyril and the Book of Secret Events and Book of Light, appears in Volume 83 of the Franciscan Studies journal.

Rebby Onken's article, "Battle of the Bruts: A Comparative Reading of MSS 224 and 253 at the University of Chicago", was published in Comitatus: A Journal of Medieval and Renaissance Studies Volume 56 and explores the valuable and essential comparison of the Brut chronicles.

Congratulations, Sam and Rebby!
