The economy of medieval Europe; commercialization and monetization; late antiquity, early medieval Europe, and the Carolingian world
Christopher is a historian of the economy of medieval Europe, with a particular focus on the lands east of the Rhine. He completed his PhD at the Centre for Medieval Studies in 2017 with a dissertation on the conquest and colonization of Saxony by the Franks in the late eighth and ninth centuries, and has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre since April 2019. Christopher previously held the position of Computer Editor at the Dictionary of Old English. He has also worked on archaeological excavations of early medieval sites in England, Scotland, and Italy.
