Congratulations to Emma Gabe, who has successfully defended her dissertation, "Sorores in coquina: Laysisters in German Monasteries, c.1300–1550", which focuses on the daily life and religious experiences of laysisters in the late medieval period, the sisters who undertook the manual and physical work within female monasteries. Thank you to supervisors Isabelle Cochelin and Shami Ghosh, committee members Markus Stock and Alison More, and appraisers James Ginther and Fiona Griffiths (Stanford University).
During Emma's time at CMS, she was involved in the research Group "The Other Sister" and was interviewed in the CMS newsletter, Chronica II. She presented her research at conferences and colloquia, was involved in student committees and planning activities, and shared her knowledge with students, assistant teaching and instructing courses, most recently Summer Latin.
Congratulations, Dr. Gabe!
