Tuition and Funding

Program Funding

Awards are available for MA students, and applicants should contact the Centre as soon as possible to get more information. For the academic years 2020-21 and 2021-22, awards towards full tuition may be available for one year of the MA Program.

Program Fees 2020-21

The fee structure of the School of Graduate Studies differentiates between students who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents (non-visa) and students from other countries (visa). This year International (visa) PhD students will be assessed the same fees as non-visa students. The current fees for full-time students are as follows:

  TUITION FEES INCIDENTALS UHIP TOTAL
Domestic (non-visa) MA and PhD students $6,210.00 $1,649.00 $7,859.00
International (visa) MA students $23,770.00 $1,649.00 $720.00 $27,329.00

These fees are, of course, in Canadian dollars. Tuition fees for part-time students are pro-rated. International students are not normally eligible for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP), and are automatically enrolled in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP).

How to Pay

Fees can be paid at any chartered bank in Canada. Students outside of Canada may forward payment by bank draft or money order in Canadian funds to:

Students who receive any scholarship funding must be registered full-time in the summer for a minimum of 14 weeks on-campus between 1 May and 31 August to be eligible for the summer instalment.

Fellowship support is usually unavailable at the MA level, but we have various awards available and applicants should contact us for more details. In the academic years 2020-21 and 2021-22, awards towards full tuition may be available. Students are also strongly encouraged to apply for external funding and scholarships.
