Prof. Emeritus Konrad Eisenbichler has recently been appointed to the Order of Canada! He is the first Italian Studies scholar to be appointed.
The announcement was released on the website of the Governor General of Canada in December. Prof. Eisenbichler has been named to the Order specifically for his "acclaimed interdisciplinary study of sexuality, gender, history, religion and literature in the Italian Renaissance era."
Prof. Eisenbichler joins numerous other University of Toronto professors who were recently appointed to or promoted within the Order. See U of T News for a feature on this year's nine faculty and 13 alumni or friends newly promoted or appointed.
