Giselle Gos wins Leonard E. Boyle Dissertation Prize

Congratulations to Giselle Gos, who has just been awarded this year’s Leonard E. Boyle Dissertation Prize for Medieval Studies by the Canadian Society of Medievalists. She received the award for her PhD thesis on “Constructing the Female Subject in Anglo-Norman, Middle English, and Medieval Irish Romance” (supervisor: Ann Dooley).

Book edited by Alexandra Gillespie honoured by the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres

The volume “The Production of books in England, 1350-1550” (Cambridge University Press, 2011), edited by Alexandra Gillespie and Daniel Wakelin, has been honoured by a “hommage” delivered by André Crépin (a fellow of the Académie) at the meeting of the Académie on June 8.

New SSHRC Post-Doc: Dr. Noelle Phillips

We are very pleased that Dr. Noelle Phillips will come to CMS as a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow for two years, starting this Fall. Dr. Phillips, who specializes in late medieval English literature, received her doctorate from the University of British Columbia in 2011. At UofT she will work Prof. Alexandra Gillespie. Welcome!

Alice Hutton Sharp wins Schindler/Leonardi Scholarship

Alice Hutton Sharp has been awarded a Zeno Karl Schindler/Claudio Leonardi Scholarship to spend four months in Europe next fall looking at twelfth and early thirteenth-century manuscripts to complete her dissertation on the Glossa Ordinaria on Genesis.

Morris Tichenor wins ISHR Research Fellowship
