John Jalsevac Wins Congress Graduate Merit Award and Rising Scholar Award

August 29, 2023 by CMS Communications

Congratulations to CMS student John Jalsevac who has won a 2023 Canadian Philosophical Association "Congress Graduate Merit Award" for a paper that has since been accepted to the CPA's official journal, Dialogue.

John has also won the American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly's "Rising Scholar" award, a very competitive prize that contributes to the development or elucidation of the Catholic philosophical tradition, for Mitigating the Magic: The Role of Memory, the Vis Cogitativa, and Experience in Aquinas’s Abstractionist Epistemology, now published in the ACPQ.

John has recently successfully defended his Final Oral Examination, "Aquinas’s Philosophy of Memory," and we thank his Supervisor Deborah Black and committee members Peter King, Bob Sweetman, and Martin Pickavé. Now Dr. Jalsevac, he has accepted and started a position as headmaster at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic School, another on his list of this year's accomplishments. CMS is so thrilled to be able to share this wonderful news. Congratulations, John!
