We are saddened to learn of the passing of former CMS professor Harry Roe, who died last Sunday. Harry taught Irish and Norse at CMS, and his late wife Caroline Medora was a CMS doctoral alumna (1974). Together with Prof. Ann Dooley, Harry produced the first full English translation of the Tales of the Elders of Ireland (Accallam na Senórach), the largest surviving early Irish literary text.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Dictionary of Old English, described as Harry's "favourite charity." The funeral service will be held at St. Basil's church.
More information can be found in Harry's official obituary in the Toronto Star.
